Back To The Noughties!
When you think of iconic glasses through the ages you might immediately go to the classics like Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Top Gun… But 2020 has been full of surprises already so why wouldn’t a noughties throwback inspired by Paris Hilton, Ali G or the Olsen Twins be perfect?
I’m sure a lot of people suffered minor PTSD when witnessing some noughties resurgence on the catwalks but we must admit these designs are a lot chic-er than the double denim paired with a trucker hat styled with pink gradient sunglasses bejewelled with a butterfly.
But as we all know, fashion works in a cycle and some Y2K nostalgia is back and better than ever...
You have probably already seen a tonne of celebrities rocking the translucent brightly coloured glasses along with the rimless gradient frames - above are some true throwbacks from 00s Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Kirsten Dunst. These sunglasses are very much ‘jeans and a nice top’ certified but today’s celebrities are incorporating these eyewear designs in a much more contemporary way:
[Shop Now: Oliver Peoples Indie OV1263ST 5036/56, Dior So Real Pop DDBKU and Ray-Ban 3584N 9052/E4].
These fun designs are such a great way to brighten up your wardrobe in time for Summer!
If you’re brave enough to time travel then here are some of our favourites:
[Shop Now: Le Specs Unreal! Apple Blossom 1902080, Saint Laurent SL 254, Dior Color Quake 2 40GHO, Chloe CE150S 839, Gucci GG0538S 006 and Bvlgari 6103 2013/18].
One tip when shopping this trend that Pretavoir feels a duty to remind you of is... Although all these sunglasses shield you from the sun and protect your eyes, they do not disguise your expression as well as some of the more Anna Wintour-Esque blackout designs do. So please try and avoid rolling your eyes while looking through your rose-tinted glasses.
Au Revoir,
PRET A VOIR
