The sun beamed down on Glasgow last Saturday, casting rare golden rays over Holmlea Park as approximately 60 runners, clad in Adidas Sport Eyewear, gathered eagerly at the park.
This was no ordinary Saturday run – it was a collaboration between KOBA Run Club and Adidas, joined by Marcolin Eyewear who had journeyed up from London to partake in the festivities with PRET A VOIR.
At the heart of the event was the KOBA Run Club, a testament to the power of friendship and community-driven fitness. KOBA was founded by Sam Gage and Scott King.
Sam, a sports enthusiast and ultramarathon runner, and Scott, a seasoned competitor in Taekwondo and Muay Thai fighting, shared a vision of creating a welcoming space for individuals to get active, meet new friends, and conquer personal fitness goals. KOBA began as a free beginner running class in Cathcart, Glasgow to help people achieve great feats of physical fitness. KOBA put on its first event in the KOBA Eclipse last year: a gruelling challenge of running a marathon and completing 50 push-ups every kilometre!
As Koba expanded they brought on Finlay, a personal trainer and Scott’s Muay Thai training partner. The three of them expanded KOBA’s services by putting together a 5-week workshop designed to strengthen and protect your knees which is essential for anyone who is increasing their running mileage and taking on the endurance challenges of KOBA. Together they aim to grow KOBA as a community-driven club that will push people to challenge themselves whether that be their first 3k or through KOBA’s unique fitness events whilst ensuring the proper physical preparation and recovery is undertaken to promote a high level of well-being and healthy lifestyle.
And PRET A VOIR were lucky enough to join KOBA last weekend to get feedback for the new line of Adidas Sports Eyewear ahead of our very own Summer of Sport…
The run club, held at Holmlea Park, quickly gained traction within the community. Participants of all fitness levels, from seasoned marathoners to newcomers, found solace in the supportive environment fostered by Sam and Scott. The team at PRET A VOIR felt right at home running with the club as we included some first-time runners of our own such as our amazing customer service advisor Drew, or couch to 5K - now turned 10K - superstar and dispensing optician Lindsay, and our two marketers by day - wanna-be athletes by night - Lynsey and Kathryn.
Holmlea Park was buzzing with energy as runners laced up their shoes and adjusted their Adidas Sport Eyewear in anticipation of the run ahead.
Big thanks to our Marcolin reps Andy & Josh for providing the Adidas eyewear, renowned for its innovation and performance. The new Summer collection received glowing feedback from the runners. Josh introduced the eyewear to the club and talked through the key design details and technical features of the collections before we all warmed up.
Not only did the glasses reduce glare and provide unparalleled comfort, but they also stayed securely in place throughout the run, ensuring maximum focus and protection.
