The Cannes Film Festival returns for its 79th edition from 12 to 23 May 2026, once again transforming the French Riviera into the epicentre of cinema, fashion, and celebrity culture. This year’s festival sees acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook presiding over the main competition jury, joined by an impressive panel including Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Stellan Skarsgård, and filmmaker Chloé Zhao; whose film Hamnet emerged as one of the most awarded titles across the 2026 awards season earlier this year. As ever, Cannes promises a dazzling collision of artistry and spectacle, where world cinema and high fashion move in perfect synchrony beneath the Côte d’Azur sun.

Beyond the famed red carpet premieres and avant-garde couture moments on the Palais des Festivals steps, Cannes is equally defined by the quieter glamour unfolding across Hotel Martinez terraces, beachfront lounges, and marina-side arrivals. In broad daylight, eyewear becomes less of an accessory and more of a statement: from oversized shields and sculptural cat-eyes to timeless black acetate frames worthy of old Hollywood. Before the glitz and glamour of the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony began, the nine appointed jury members gathered for an official photocall.

Ethiopian-Irish actress Ruth Negga opted for the gold Celine Metal CL40346U 32E round sunglasses with bronze-brown lenses from the Spring 2026 collection.
