The brand's design team are known to often devise solutions to enhance the design of their products. This can range from changes to the smallest screws to entirely new frame propositions - supporting the basis of the brand's foundations built on innovation. Rosario Toscano and Salma Rachid, the founders of the eyewear company, launched the brand in 2019 with a joint goal of evolving the eyewear market. Toscano alone brought around 20 years of industry experience to the brand name. Together, they decided to base Akoni's manufacturing headquarters in Japan due to the extensive amount of skilled producers and artisans available to them. The finest Japanese materials, which are both durable and sustainable, are the core of creating the everlasting Akoni Eyewear Collection.
