Valentino and the Akoni Group

In 2022, Valentino announced their new partnership with the eyewear brand - Akoni Group. Pierpaolo Piccioli, Valentino's creative director, believed that Valentino's eyewear quality must be elevated to the same level as their haute-couture collection. At the beginning of 2023, their new eyewear collection was launched displaying impeccable quality and fine craftsmanship.

The History

The Maison Valentino was founded in 1960 by Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti. Valentino Garavani started his career in fashion at a young age apprenticing for local designers and training at the École des Beaux-Arts and the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris. He worked for Jean Dessès and Guy Laroche, then he opened his own fashion house in Rome, in 1959 and the design duo launched into international stardom by the 60s known best of their haute couture. In particular, Valentino was recognised for their glamorous red dresses attracting women all over the world. One of their most notable customer’s was Jackie Kennedy, who became a close friend of the designer. The Maison Valentino remains a major player today within the luxury fashion market, known for their creative work and ethereal sense of beauty.
