Black cat eye frames in a 53mm lens width, introduced in Saint Laurent's Spring/Summer 2021 collection as part of the Blue & Beyond concept. These are part of the Saint Laurent New Wave family, a fashion-oriented story embodying the free spirit and modernity of trend-seekers and youth culture. Muse for the Mica frame is Argentinian fashion model and artist Mica Arganaraz - often referred to as an industry icon and It Girl, Mica is a fashion force to be reckoned with. A striking modern acetate cat eye shape, the frame is accentuated by the instantly recognisable 1966 Saint Laurent Rive Gauche logo adorning each temple.
Saint Laurent Blue & Beyond glasses combine both a photochromic lens and a blue light coating to create an unrivalled visual experience.
Photochromic is a type of optical lens which darkens on exposure to light changing. In a normal to dark, or indoor environment your lenses will remain clear with a very light transparent grey tint; when worn outside, as your surroundings get brighter your lenses will darken to a dark grey as they're activated by the sun's ultraviolet radiation.
The blue light coating on your lenses will protect your eye from the blue light that passes through the cornea and lens and reaches the retina, which is believed to affect the light-sensitive cells in the retina; this can cause poor sleep quality, migraines and eye strain. Sunlight is the number one source of blue light making these glasses the perfect on-the-go design.
Initially inspired by the Moliere play 'Ecole Des Femmes,' Yves Saint Laurent was enchanted by fashion from an early age.
