The Salvatore Ferragamo Glasses collection uses iconic elements from Salvatore Ferragamo's brand heritage, such as The Gancini, the Vara and signature prints as well as innovative frame shapes. Salvatore Ferragamo was born in Southern Italy in 1898, he was the eleventh of fourteen children, and at the age of nine created his first pair of shoes for his sister’s confirmation. He studied shoemaking for a year in Naples, then opened a small shop based in his parent’s home before emigrating to Boston in 1914. His brothers worked in a cowboy boot factory and After a short time working at the factory himself, Ferragamo convinced his brothers to move to California with him where they opened a boot shop in 1919. In 1927, Ferragamo returned to Italy, settling in Florence, where he won awards for his footwear design and started designing bags and silk scarves. In 1937, Salvatore Ferragamo released his first ready-to-wear clothing collection designed by Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo. In 1960, Salvatore Ferragamo died aged 62 and his wife, Wanda Ferragamo Miletti took over the company. In the following years, the company continued to win awards as well as gaining a highly-coveted client list including the likes of Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren and Eva Peron.
