Since then, three generations of the Paulino family have followed his footsteps. In the 1930s, eyewear was simply seen as an essential medical tool for correcting vision however by the 1950s when Ramiro Paulino, Bernardo's son, succeeded his father he began to customize frames to fit the wearer whilst still working close to the traditional experience he had learned from his family. Ramiro created a perfect made to measure frames by hand, which today is still used as a reference in quality precision as the "Ramiro Optica" was - and still is - a reference for quality precision optics in Portugal.
