TC Charton
TC Charton is a distinguished eyewear brand, founded by visionary designer Alexandra Peng. Initially established to cater to the need for stylish, well-fitting eyewear for Asians, TC Charton has since garnered a diverse, multicultural following thanks to the bespoke nature of its designs. Each frame is meticulously crafted with specific features in mind.
“I get my inspiration by studying people’s faces. I could be at a coffee shop, and I’ll see somebody with distinct features that will trigger an idea for my next design,” Peng explains. “My frames are actually named after the people that provided the inspiration.”
With over 20 years of experience designing and producing eyewear for global brands, Peng struggled to find frames that fit her face. Like many Asians, she faced issues such as glasses sliding down her nose, leaving indentations on her cheeks, or being outright uncomfortable. This challenge arises because most eyewear companies design with Caucasian features in mind. In 2009, Peng founded TC Charton Asian Fit Eyewear, becoming the first North American brand dedicated to creating beautiful, well-fitting eyewear for Asians. The collection has since evolved to "Made to Fit," accommodating a variety of ethnic characteristics like higher cheekbones, lower or higher nose bridges, and varying face widths.
“I am truly gratified by the responses I have received since I started my company,” Peng shares. “I love that so many people of different ethnicities love the designs, not just because they look good, but also because they fit well and feel great. That’s been my goal.”
Improperly fitting eyewear can impair vision and cause discomfort such as headaches or dizziness. Recognizing this, TC Charton focuses on ensuring a perfect fit. This commitment to quality and fit is why TC Charton eyewear is sold exclusively through professional opticians and stores, ensuring that each pair meets the unique needs of its wearer.
