Stella McCartney Sunglasses

Stella McCartney sunglasses and glasses introduce a new eco-friendly material called ‘bio-acetate’ that is both of natural origin and renewable resources. Her eyewear range consists of eco-friendly castor-oil glasses (in place of most brands' use of petroleum when manufacturing acetate frames). This material is made without the use of fossil fuels and instead replaces the harmful Diethyl Phthalate, derived from petroleum, with innovative bio-based plasticisers.

Stella McCartney’s bio-acetate is made from responsibly-harvested natural wood pulp which is both renewable and biodegradable. In addition to the brand’s responsible resourcing, Stella McCartney promotes and pioneers renewable energy in her eyewear manufacturing process. The team at Stella McCartney has pledged to make sure that 100% of its plastic can be easily and safely reused, recycled or composted by 2025.

Stella McCartney Sunglasses - Her History in the Fashion Industry

The British fashion designer was born in 1971. She is the daughter of The Beatle's legend, Sir Paul McCartney and his

late wife, photographer, musician, and animal rights activist Linda McCartney. Stella was interested in fashion design from an early age and at the age of 13, she designed her first jacket. Just three years later, she interned for Christian Lacroix, working on her first haute couture collection. She honed her skills working for Edward Sexton (her father's Savile Row tailor).

After graduating from Central St Martins in 1995, she was immediately recognisable for her sharp tailoring, bold aesthetics and masculine energy. In 1997, she was appointed the Creative Director of Chloe. In 2001, Stella McCartney launched her own luxury fashion house and showcased her first collection in Paris. Like her parents, she is a firm supporter of animal rights and is recognised for her use of vegan, animal-free and sustainable alternatives in her designs.
