The Evolution of Modo Glasses


MODO eyewear was founded in New York City in 1990 by Alessandro Lanaro and was inspired by the principles of sustainability, craftsmanship, and technology. MODO's motto is "Paper Thin, Titanium Strong," which speaks for the lightweight yet durable materials used in their frames.

The origins of MODO can be traced back to Lanaro's family business, which was a manufacturing company that produced eyewear for other brands. Lanaro saw an opportunity to create his brand and prioritise design and innovation. In 1990, he launched MODO.

In its early years, MODO focused on producing classic, high-quality frames made from acetate and metal. However, as the brand grew, it began experimenting with new materials and technologies, such as titanium and 3D printing. That led to the development of the "Paper-Thin" collection featuring ultra-lightweight frames that are just 0.6mm thick.



MODO Glasses Commitment To Sustainability


The brand has become widely known for its sustainability efforts. In 2009, the company launched its "Eco" collection, which uses recycled materials and environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes. In addition, MODO partners with various non-profit organisations to support environmental causes.
